Water Purification System Installed in Haiti

Paul R., part of the first Love Aflame! Worldwide Mission Team to visit Haiti since the earthquake on January 12, 2010, pours table salt into the water purification system. The team utilizied electrical wires from a nearby collapsed office building to connect the system to a 12volt lead battery. A heavy-duty pump was purchased along with sufficient PVC pipe to bring water to the very large poly-tank reservoir. After three days of rigging the solar panel, the battery, the PVC piping, the water purification equipment itself and other odds and ends, the team was able to produce safe water.

The system uses common table salt which it converts to chlorine gas through an electroysis process. The chlorine gas treats the water at a rate of over 50 gallons per minute. Thousands of people will drink from this system in the coming weeks and months.
